One portrait. One plate. One of a kind. Tintype Portraits in Downtown Orlando

A tintype is a photograph unlike any other. Invented in the 1850s, this historic process creates a unique image directly on a thin sheet of metal. There is no negative and no digital file. The plate you hold in your hands is the original, and it will never be made again.

What is a tintype?

Each tintype is handmade on the spot. A metal plate is coated, sensitized, exposed in the camera, and developed within minutes. The result is a rich, silvery image with a depth, texture, and timeless character that digital photography simply can't imitate. Every plate carries its own subtle marks and imperfections, which is what makes it yours alone.

The experience

Sitting for a tintype is slow and deliberate, and that is part of its charm. You'll be still for a few moments while the plate is exposed, and then you'll watch your portrait appear before your eyes. Many people tell me it is the most memorable portrait session they've ever had.

About your photographer

I'm Yildirim Danisman, a photographer with over 25 years of experience. Born and raised in Turkey, I have called Orlando home for the past 10 years. Alongside tintypes, I photograph iris portraits, weddings, families, portraits, and food. Tintype brings together everything I love about photography: craft, patience, and the magic of a real, physical image.
